Brightlane — Headless storefront that recovered 18% checkout

Safari 16 hydration bug was killing checkout. We rebuilt the storefront in Next.js 15 with streaming, fixed the race, and lifted conversion by 18%.

Brightlane's boutique storefront was bleeding orders on Safari 16 — the pay button froze after the second render due to a hydration mismatch in the cart drawer. We traced it to a client-only date formatter leaking into SSR and rebuilt the checkout as a streaming Server Component with optimistic updates.

We introduced a token-driven design system so merchandising could launch capsules without engineering, wired Shopify Storefront with on-demand ISR, and added Playwright coverage for every checkout path. The result: zero hydration errors, 18% more completed checkouts and a team that now ships campaigns in hours, not sprints.
